Michael Haylock from Bishopsworth joined the Outset Bristol programme at the beginning of August 2011. Four months later, together with his wife Lisa, he set up his business Happy Dayz Cleaning Services. “Outset Bristol has been amazing,” says Michael. “Back in the summer, I was only thinking about setting up a business with my wife. I went to the Introduction to Enterprise course with Outset Bristol and the more I went on, the more Outset convinced me to go for it! They are great and understanding courses and I have enjoyed every one of them.”

Having been made redundant after working in the IT industry for 27 years, Michael found out about the Outset Bristol programme through his local Jobcentre Plus. Michael received almost 40 hours of business start-up support from Outset Bristol and his sunny and enthusiastic manner made him a popular face around the Outset offices. “I found the Outset Bristol programme very useful, I even got my company name from Outset. Every time I want to class, they asked if all was okay and I’d say ‘happy days’ so Happy Dayz Cleaning Services was born!”

Michael has been busy promoting his business as a trustworthy and reliable husband and wife cleaning team who are, above all, cheerful! Already, they are cleaning a range of different premises including offices, private properties, a scout venue and a primary school. “There is a big market for cleaning and stiff competition. Having recently cleaned laptops/desktop PCs and overhead projectors for a school, with great feedback, I’m going to try and hit that more specialist market too.”
